On the first monday of each month, there meets a group of ladies and gentlemen at the Barley House (very nice establishment) in Concord, NH. I attended and I couldn't be happier I did. The patrons of the meeting were published authors, dreamers (like myself) well on their way, and journalists who have worked in the writing field. We discussed everything from what each of us wrote, to the viability of modern self-publishing and a slew of other topics I could just barely make out over my own conversations.
I can't stress enough how important it is to network, no matter what your goal in life is. "Make business cards, make connections, make friends, you'll need them down the road," I say with confidence. I know being a writer entails more than a satisfying amount of alone time, but getting out there and building hype in not only your work, but yourself is very important.
So I give this, my first official Shout Out and Special Thanks to the New Hampshire Writers Project! Thanks for being there. If you're a writer and you get writer's block, go by their site nhwritersproject.org. They have everything from contests and awards, to workshops and social events like the "writer's night out" that I attended. You won't be disappointed.
